Young singer Lorde from New Zealand debuted her newest song, Green Light recently, announcing on Twitter that it was the first single from her sophomore album Melodrama, which will follow her 2013 debut Pure Heroine, though no release date has yet been revealed.

Here’s a look at some of the standout songs and videos from Lorde’s career so far.

Royals

Royals is undoubtedly the singer’s best-known song. Born in New Zealand in 1996, Lorde showed the world that it’s possible to combine cutting-edge pop music with chart success. In 2013, Billboard reported that she was the first female solo artist to top Billboard’s Nielsen BDS-based Alternative Songs chart in more than 17 years.

Tennis Court

Anyone left unmoved by Lorde’s Royals had a second chance to be bowled over with Tennis Court, a hit single which sealed the popularity of the singer. The aesthetics and style of Lorde’s video were a world apart from counterparts like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

Magnets

Spanning the divide between pop music and electro, the young artist has collaborated with specialists in the genre, joining British duo Disclosure as a featured artist on the track Magnets.

Yellow Flicker Beat

Now elevated to international star status, Lorde penned the lead single to the movie soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1.

Green Light

On March 2 Lorde uploaded the video for new, theatrical song Green Light, directed by Grant Singer, in which she’s seen walking through the streets at night, dancing in a hot pink dress in a club. – AFP Relaxnews
